Accessibility is more than ramps.

Lived-experience accessibility training, speaking and inclusive content that helps organisations turn good intentions into better customer experiences.

I help businesses, venues and customer-facing teams understand the accessibility barriers that policies and checklists often miss. Through honest storytelling, practical education and real-world experience, I show organisations how staff behaviour, communication and service design can either support independence — or take it away.

Accessibility should work in real life

An organisation can have an accessibility policy and still deliver an inaccessible experience.

  • A ramp cannot fix poor communication.
  • A policy cannot help when staff do not know how to support a visually impaired customer.
  • An accessibility symbol means very little when the promised service is unavailable, information cannot be accessed, or a customer is left feeling unsafe and dependent.

Blindish and Thriving helps organisations close the gap between what accessibility says on paper and what disabled customers actually experience.

Meet Abi Crowther

I am Abi Crowther, the founder of Blindish and Thriving. I am a visually impaired speaker, accessibility advocate, content creator and author.

Sight loss changed how I navigate the world, but it did not remove my independence, ambition, humour or purpose.

Through Blindish and Thriving, I share the realities of living confidently with visual impairment — from travelling, cooking and enjoying culture to navigating shops, cinemas, attractions, technology and public spaces.

My work is not based on theory alone. It is shaped by real experiences of both outstanding accessibility and serious service failures. I use those experiences to help organisations understand what inclusion feels like from the customer's side.

My approach is honest, practical and constructive. I do not simply identify what went wrong. I help organisations understand what they can do better.

Lived-Experience Accessibility Review

See your customer journey differently.

Policies do not always reveal how accessible a customer journey feels in practice. I review selected parts of your customer experience from the perspective of a visually impaired customer.

The review may examine areas such as:

  • Booking and pre-visit information
  • Website accessibility from a user perspective
  • Arrival and navigation
  • Signage and wayfinding
  • Staff interactions
  • Accessible equipment or services
  • Safety and emergency considerations
  • Communication before, during and after the visit
  • The customer's ability to remain independent
  • How problems are handled when they occur

You receive:

  • A structured summary of observations
  • Examples of what worked well
  • Identified barriers and areas of concern
  • Practical recommendations
  • An optional follow-up discussion
Fees: From £650

Complex reviews, multiple locations and detailed campaign consultancy are quoted separately.

Important scope note: This is a lived-experience customer-journey review. It is not a formal technical WCAG audit, building inspection, legal compliance certification or safety assessment.

Blindish and Thriving

Your Complete Guide to Life, Purpose, and Joy After Vision Loss

Before Blindish and Thriving became a brand, it was a lived journey. In this book, Abi Crowther shares the reality of sight loss, the emotional upheaval that followed and the process of rebuilding confidence, independence and purpose.

This is not a story about pretending that sight loss was easy. It is a story about adapting, refusing to disappear and discovering that a changed life can still be a meaningful and powerful one.

Why I wrote it

I wanted to write the book I needed when my sight loss began — an honest, practical companion that goes beyond sympathy and shows what rebuilding a life with purpose and joy actually looks like.

Who it's for

Anyone navigating vision loss, their friends and family, and anyone who wants a more honest understanding of what living well with a disability really involves.

Reviews will appear here once received. Example format:

Frequently asked questions

Do you only speak about visual impairment?

Visual impairment is the foundation of my lived experience, but the wider lessons apply to accessibility, customer service, inclusion, staff confidence, safety, communication and independence.

Are your sessions only for large companies?

No. Talks and workshops can be adapted for small businesses, charities, community organisations, cultural venues, public bodies and larger corporate teams.

Do you deliver sessions online?

Yes. Talks, workshops and consultations can be delivered online. In-person sessions are also available, with travel and accommodation charged where necessary.

Can you tailor the content to our organisation?

Yes. Bespoke content can be created using information about your sector, customers, services and accessibility priorities.

Is the accessibility review a formal audit?

No. It is a lived-experience review of the customer journey. It does not replace a technical accessibility audit, legal assessment, building inspection or health-and-safety review.

Can you create content without publishing it on your account?

Yes. I can create user-generated content for a brand to publish on its own channels. Usage rights and licensing will be agreed before production.

Do you accept gifted collaborations?

Gifted products may be considered when they are genuinely useful and relevant. However, receiving a product does not automatically guarantee coverage, a positive review or permanent content rights.

What are your payment terms?

A deposit is required to secure paid work. The remaining balance is normally payable before delivery or within the period stated on the invoice. Final payment terms will be included in the agreement.

Can organisations record a workshop or talk?

Recording is not automatically included. Permission and licensing must be agreed in advance.

Work with Abi

Good accessibility is not achieved through intention alone. It is created through reliable services, informed staff, thoughtful communication and a willingness to listen to disabled people.

Whether you are planning an event, improving your customer experience, training your team or creating an inclusive campaign, I would be pleased to discuss how Blindish and Thriving can contribute.
